Your stare goes right through me,
Scanning my field,
The unperturbable space between me and you.
You check my emotional overcoat,
Survey my time-worn undergarments,
And reflect back just what I need.
I can never quite fathom your depth,
How much you can know about me so quickly,
How effective your gaze is,
A panacea for my world.
The sun sets across your back,
Shimmering golden brown.
Your eyes relax into slits,
Content you have done your job,
Delivered the message,
Engaged your love,
With all of those places inside me
Where I need it most.
I cannot possibly say
How much you mean to me,
How much you have taught me,
How grateful I am that you are in my life!
